Himalayan Ecocide: Why the Mountains Are Collapsing

The Himalayas are young, unstable, and warming faster than the rest of the planet.

Climate change is melting glaciers and thawing permafrost that once held mountains together. At the same time, forests are being cleared and hills cut vertically for roads, dams, and tourism.

When heavy rain falls, slopes collapse. Rivers flood faster. Disasters become deadlier.

In 2025 alone, thousands died in Himalayan states due to climate-linked events. These are no longer “natural” disasters.

The real issue is not development—but development without ecological limits.
